recline and review

DSCF0028_1

It really shouldn't have been this difficult to find a photograph of a girl with glasses for Shutterday's "Girls with Glasses" prompt. Heck, I am a girl with glasses! But I'm really not one for portraits, so unfortunately, you'll have to make do with a photo of a girl... with glasses hanging off her sweater. And her boyfriend who's doing the same thing.

At least it's the MoMA! The MoMA makes everything better.

I almost titled this "KEY TO HER HEART" or something equally cheesy, but I thought better of it.

By the way, this is ISO 200. If you're considering buying a new compact camera and you're looking at the Fuji S700, look elsewhere if noise is a concern of yours.

DSCF0026

Created for the Self Portrait Challenge prompt "food and me."

(The food, of course, is hidden inside the coffee mug.)

I think this is the clearest photograph of myself that I've put on this site.

(By "clear," of course, I mean "showing the most of my face," because there's an intentional blur to the whole image.)

Submitted to Self Portrait Challenge for a second week of patterns.

Well, technically, I think this is their third or fourth week, but it's my second submission.

I'll get out of this 35mm thing soon.

looking out

DSCF0037

A blustery day on the boardwalk.

Just in case you're wondering, the squiggles in the upper right are kites. I could've cloned them out, but I like them.

This was a "oh shit I need to develop my film in 5 minutes what can I take a picture of" thing. Everyone in my class loved this photo. I don't get it.

IT'S COMING TO GET YOUUUUUUUU

I know this whole "painting with light" thing is fairly popular now, but it still always makes me think of Gjon Mili's photograph of Pablo Picasso light-painting a centaur.

(I used a small flashlight and a 15-second exposure.)

You can see the scar in the middle of my foot where I (unsuccessfully) tried to run up a slide- on the sand- barefoot- in the dark- about 6 years ago. Would I do it again? Probably.

35mm fun.

Side note: Crayola washable markers don't wash off as easily as you'd think.

(Submitted to Self Portrait Challenge for "pattern.")

skating

DSCF0021

In-line skaters at the park. I think I was trying to do an example of a "fast shutter speed."

Image quality sucks, you say? There are a variety of technical difficulties standing between snapping the shutter on my SLR and producing the image you see here. I try. I ain't a professional.

Ahhh, the dog days of summer.

Climbing trees with multiple cameras over your shoulder- and then trying to SHOOT an image like this without falling out of the tree- is a bit of a challenge.
