Back when I was less fearless about photographing strangers...

Money may not grow on trees, but spatulas do.

Submitted to Self Portrait Challenge for a second week of patterns.

Well, technically, I think this is their third or fourth week, but it's my second submission.

I'll get out of this 35mm thing soon.

star

watermeter

My teacher seemed to love all my "using-up-film" shots. I'm unimpressed with this one partially because I've been photographing manholes for 8 months, so a water meter is hardly anything novel.

looking out

DSCF0037

A blustery day on the boardwalk.

Just in case you're wondering, the squiggles in the upper right are kites. I could've cloned them out, but I like them.

reach

statue

This was a "oh shit I need to develop my film in 5 minutes what can I take a picture of" thing. Everyone in my class loved this photo. I don't get it.

DSCF0026

If you look at letters long enough, they stop looking like words and start looking like shapes.

IT'S COMING TO GET YOUUUUUUUU

I know this whole "painting with light" thing is fairly popular now, but it still always makes me think of Gjon Mili's photograph of Pablo Picasso light-painting a centaur.

(I used a small flashlight and a 15-second exposure.)

foot2

You can see the scar in the middle of my foot where I (unsuccessfully) tried to run up a slide- on the sand- barefoot- in the dark- about 6 years ago. Would I do it again? Probably.

35mm fun.

Side note: Crayola washable markers don't wash off as easily as you'd think.

(Submitted to Self Portrait Challenge for "pattern.")

Gazebo

The image, which I ended up making a print of, is clearer in person.

This was a holy-shit-I-need-to-use-up-my-roll-in-the-next-7-minutes shot of the roof of a smoking gazebo around campus.

skating

DSCF0021

In-line skaters at the park. I think I was trying to do an example of a "fast shutter speed."

Image quality sucks, you say? There are a variety of technical difficulties standing between snapping the shutter on my SLR and producing the image you see here. I try. I ain't a professional.

Someday, I will learn how to properly transfer negatives to the computer, but until then, this is the quality you'll get.

Trying to use up a roll of film by photographing hoses. My teacher liked it. I fought her. She won.
